A girlfriend of mine noticed I was stooping . I noticed a hump developing on my back. Maybe years of computer work and the residue from a 25 years ago broken arm… and probably not paying enough attention to standing straight all the time. I decided to do something about it at 70 so I could enjoy my life for a long time.
Another friend told me about Wayne Moran and his exercise classes and muscular skeletal treatment. I was a bit hesitant having wasted lots of money in noisy competitive gyms but I decided to go. It was the best decision I have made for a long time. The combination of tailored exercise and treatment have made all the difference and I now stand straight, my shoulder muscles work better and my emerging hump has disappeared. As well as Wayne’s magic touch, the people in the exercise classes are just like me (many quite a bit younger) with individual pains and strains and we laugh a lot. There is no competitiveness. Everyone encourages each other.
Wayne incorporates special exercises for my arm into the general circuit and gives us all huge support.

In February 1986, as a result of a road accident, I broke my right arm (snapped Humerus bone) with resultant damage to radial and severed Brachial Artery. After two operations, a bone graft and plate, the bone eventually healed. Over the next 30 years my arm and shoulder functioned normally although sometimes painfully. Continual Physiotherapy helped. In 2015 it began to deteriorate until I was in constant pain contemplating leaving my career of 35 years. I was informed in 2018 by my Physiotherapist that my shoulder was arthritic and would get worse, not better. I was advised that painkillers and sleeping tablets were the only options for the pain and difficulty sleeping. I first visited Wayne Moran 3rd January 2019. Three treatments of my arm and shoulder later and as I write this, on 15th January 2019, I have no pain whatsoever in my shoulder and have, once again, full use of my right arm. To suggest I am really grateful would be an understatement. I am quite frankly amazed.
Wayne is our fitness leader for our Stronger for Longer classes and I cannot recommend him highly enough, since Wayne has come on board our class attendees have reported fantastic physical gains some beyond their wildest expectations and also made new friends and connections.
Just one of the many comments received lately shows this in the attendees own words: “I really enjoy going to exercises on Thursday morning, Wayne is a big help with instructions on how to use the equipment and advice. I do hope to continue with fitness therapy as I probably wouldn’t be able to do near as much at home”.

Kickboxing is a high intensity hour of strength, cardio, flexibility and a tremendous amount of coordination.

I have suffered from bad backs on and off all my life, but it became chronic around the age of 40. The pain would stop me from running, jumping, playing chase with my children. I would struggle putting on my shoes or turning over in bed. Over three years I saw six physiotherapists, one chiropractor, I had deep tissue massage and tried Japanese acupuncture. I went to a spinal clinic and after an MRI was told my lower back spine had disc bulges and I should never run again. I became a Pilates instructor and could manage the pain with daily stretches and fortnightly massage. I had to move carefully as many things could trigger my bad back.
My GP had told me I needed to do weight training to strenghten my bones, so I started training with Wayne once weekly about six weeks ago. Over those six weeks I had four 1½ hour treatments with Wayne, releasing deep set muscle tension and tight fascia. The first three weeks of treatment and training were painful and hard, the body had to readjust and heal, my body had been stuck in a rut for such a long time. But I could tell what Wayne was doing was working. After the fourth treatment it all started to come together. I could move without pain. Muscles in my buttock and trapezius that had not worked for years switched on. My body moved better, I could do squats, lounges, even jump, and no back pain! My back is so much better, I actually forgotten how bad my back used to be, and that is only after six weeks!
Wayne’s treatment and training go hand in hand. His understanding of body mechanics is uncanny. He spots any discrepancy in movement, can put his finger (literally!) on the spot and find any muscle tightness or imbalance, and release it. He adds rehab exercises where needed and most importantly gives you back the confidence and ability to do anything you want to do! Wayne has actually changed the way I can live my life, and my back has never been happier! Thanks Wayne!!!

I wish to take this opportunity to provide feedback re the positive outcomes I have experienced after having remedial massage from Wayne Moran of Your Body Mechanic. I have received treatment from Wayne for both an acute injury and a longer term muscle atrophy problem. Firstly my acute injury. I sought treatment from Wayne after a tree I was felling landed on my left leg as it dropped. The injury led to a large thigh haematoma forming and the development of a severe nerve impingement. I suffered through 10 consecutive nights where I could not sleep due this injury as a consequence of the pain it was causing. Every time I feel asleep the pain would awaken me. After 10 days of extreme pain and sleeplessness Wayne suggested that I visit him and have some remedial massage done. After one hour of remedial work the pain was immediately relieved and once again I was able to sleep. So the problem was effectively resolved with one session of treatment. Such a relief!
I have also had a longer period of treatment from Wayne for a chronic muscle atrophy problem to my left leg caused by a club foot deformity. Wayne worked on my left leg over a number of sessions with the outcome being a marked improvement in the movement and function on my left leg. I became able to skip with a skipping rope for not just a few rotations but a hundred without tripping up.
I would highly recommend Wayne to anyone needing treatment for an acute injury or management of longer term chronic muscular/functional problems as he has succeeded so well in managing my health issues.

I found Wayne while i was preparing for the MFS application process. At the time, i considered myself reasonably fit, and more than capable for any of the testing that the MFS could throw at me. Oh how wrong i was…
In over 15 years of cycling, and many years of rock climbing, i had turned myself into a single purpose machine. It turns out that while i was very bike fit, i was not very life fit. My body was so tight and highly strung that it would not let me do the things that i had to do to pass the testing. I started training with Wayne 3 days a week, and had several remedial massage sessions to get my feet and legs to free up so i could move in the way that i had to. In 4 weeks i had doubled my beep test score, i was much more energetic, i felt happier and my core strength went off the charts. I would not have believed it possible had i not gone through it.
Wayne has a gift that i think comes from his many years of personal experience, training, intuition and passion. Certainly in my case he was able to fix things that have plagued me for years. He fixed things in my feet that i didn’t even know were there, things that had been wrong for a very long time. I felt like i had to learn how to walk again! I do not recall a time where my feet and legs have worked better.
I sincerely recommend Wayne to anyone who is interested in sorting themselves out for the long term, and not just a band-aid.

Several months ago, I heard about Wayne’s work through a friend and thought after over thirty years of ongoing back problems, what have I got to lose? Up to then I had sought relief through GPs, medical specialists, physiotherapy, acupuncture, kinesiology, exercising, not exercising, prescribed painkillers and anti inflammatory, as well as several types of massage. These either provided only temporary relief or aggravated my problem and my pain remained chronic and debilitating.
Two years ago I suffered a bulged disc in my lower back and was advised that physiotherapy was my best option and to avoid vigorous exercise. When my exercising stopped, my weight ballooned and my back was worse than ever. Despite my high fear levels, I began the monitored weight training at Your Body Mechanic as well as Wayne’s intensive treatments and to my great joy I felt immediate relief from the pain I had lived with since I was a teenager. This combination of treatments and training has alleviated my back problems to such an extent that I can achieve a range of movements and physical activities I never thought I would again.
My increasing physical strength is an obvious side effect however; the positive mental effect of a pain free existence has had significant impact on my life in general and I am thrilled to be a fully functioning human being once more.

Wayne Moran is that rare thing; a rehab specialist and a personal trainer. After many years carrying injuries and thinking that I was just going to have to live with it I skeptically approached Wayne thinking not much could be done. But with Wayne’s attentions both in his clinic for rehab and in the gym for strengthening I am now walking and standing straighter and more importantly pain free.
His diagnosis and treatment of affected muscles and joints has been spot on and effective. I can recommend his remedial practice for successful rehabilitation.
